At NI Speech Therapy Tots 2 Teens, we specialise in developing the communication skills of children through our dedicated speech therapy services. We use a range of evidence-based learning techniques that are specifically tailored to your child’s ability and age.
We also recognise that every child’s communication journey is unique, and we are committed to selecting the most appropriate techniques to foster growth and confidence in their speech and communication.
NI Speech Therapy Tots 2 Teens, is a private speech and language therapy provider based in Belfast. We provide our services to clients based throughout the city and in wider parts of Northern Ireland.
What is speech therapy?
Speech therapy is one-to-one individualised therapy sessions following your child’s assessment session. If required, a course of therapy sessions may be offered to help your child overcome any language or communication barriers that they may be experiencing.
What conditions can we help treat?
NI Speech Therapy Tots 2 Teens is well equipped to deal with various speech, language and communication conditions. Some conditions that we can help treat include (but not limited to);
- Articulation and phonology difficulties (speech sounds)
- Attention and listening difficulties
- Early language development
- Language delays
- Language disorders
- Developing play skills
- Stammering
- Selective mutism
We provide speech therapy support for children of all ages. We also offer educational training for parents, early years staff and educators, to help them better support children with any of the conditions listed above.
What do speech therapy sessions look like?
Sessions are interactive, motivating and fun and will be effective in helping your child work towards their therapy goals. From articulation exercises to language intervention games and fluency techniques, our methods are grounded in the latest paediatric research and best practices.
Our goal within this therapy is to provide a comfortable and relaxed environment where your child can build confidence in their speech and language skills. We will tailor each session to accommodate the specific needs and abilities of your child, ensuring that the therapy works for them.
How long do speech therapy sessions last?
Speech and language sessions usually last around 45 minutes ( or 1 hour for the Michael Palin approach to stammering). This includes tailored speech and language therapy, in addition to some time for discussion between the parent and speech therapist post-session.
How are parents involved?
At NI Speech Therapy Tots 2 Teens, we strongly encourage parental participation to support your child’s speech and language development at home.
I will work closely with you to demonstrate therapy techniques and provide personalised games, activities, resources and strategies to use at home in your daily routines to develop your child’s speech, language and communication skills.
How is my child’s progress monitored?
Together, we will discuss your child’s therapy aims, and agree upon the best course of action to take. Over the course of the sessions, we will monitor your child’s progress with their speech, language and communication development.
Detailed feedback will also be given at the end of each therapy session.
How old does my child have to be for speech therapy?
NI Speech Therapy Tots 2 Teens provides sessions from toddlers to teens. We are able to cater our sessions to accommodate your child’s age, level of development and speech/linguistic needs.
