I am a dual-qualified highly specialist speech and language therapist of 20 + years and also a trained primary school teacher. Outside of work I am a mum of three children.<\/p>\n<p>Having qualified with a BSc Honours degree in Speech and Language Therapy in 2002 from the University of Ulster, I gained extensive experience in the NHS across various clinic, nursery, school and Sure Start Children\u2019s Centre speech and language therapy positions, successfully working with individual children, small groups and providing speech and language training courses to parents and early years\u2019 staff over many years.<\/p>\n<p>Having also gained a primary Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) qualification at Stranmillis University College in 2015 and worked for periods as a primary teacher alongside my speech and language therapy, I have gained an in-depth understanding of the Northern Ireland Curriculum and how speech, language and communication fit into all aspects of nursery and primary school life.<\/p>\n<p>My unique training and experience enables me to help your child develop their best possible speech and language skills to help them have confidence and success not only in their life at home but also in their friendships, hobbies and in all aspects of their learning at school.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-44b9876 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"44b9876\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-390da89\" data-id=\"390da89\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-23a7c4b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"23a7c4b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>Qualifications<\/h3>\n<p>BSc Hons Speech and Language Therapy, University of Ulster, 2002.<\/p>\n<p>Early Years Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Queens University Belfast, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>I continually develop my speech and language therapy clinical skills to ensure that my assessment and therapy are based on the most current evidence-based practice. I have received postgraduate speech and language therapy training across a wide variety of clinical areas including:<\/p>\n<p>I am a registered Elklan Tutor, Makaton trained, a Makaton Baby Signing trainer, a Hanen trainer for specialist speech and language therapy courses It Takes Two To Talk, You Make the Difference and Target Word specialist programs.<\/p>\n<p>I have been trained in Primary Movements and am trained in specialist stammering therapies including Palin Parent-Child Interaction Therapy for Children Under 7, Palin Approach for 8 to 14 Year olds and The Lidcombe Program for stammering.
